Downtown Hilo KTA Receives SMA Approval Print E-mail

According to Jeff Darrow at the Hawaii County Planning Commission, the Special Management Area (SMA) Permit request for the downtown Hilo KTA Market was approved at yesterday's Planning Commission meeting.

This means that KTA can move forward with the demolition and remodel on the corner of Keawe and Mamo streets.

We're still not sure why the Tribune Herald continues to state that the building slated for demo is only 7,700 sq. ft., when Public Record data shows (and assesses) it as 13,918 sq. ft., (especially confusing since we identified their first error to the TH Editor..and coupled with the fact that Tribune Herald has confirmed that their staff read the ITP blog). No worries, if you need accurate information regarding real estate or related subjects, please contact Island Trust Properties --- we are experts who won't guess or just take someone's word for it, we'll provide the facts!

Both wrong

According to the sign in the picture, you and the Tribune-Herald are both wrong. ... Why
does the sign say 9,000SF?

The sign only refers to the land area that KTA was getting the SMA permit for; the Tribune
Herald's error was about the actual description for the TMK data for the entire property,
hence the corrections in the post.
